Valentines 2011
Two hundered people packed Fuse Bar, 145 Wellingborough Road, Northampton, to celebrate Valentines day and raise funds for Inspiration FM community radio. Our special guest DJ was Sweetlips/Bev Dean.
Chinese New Year 2011
On Sunday 6 February 2011 Weston Favel celebrated the Chinese New Year. Here are some photos from the event.
Thousands of people came to the annual Umbrella Fair held at the Racecourse on Saturday to see the stalls, the live bands and the dancers on five stages and support the environmentalist cause. The weather held up and everybody had a good time. Inspiration FM filmed the event and you can view the videos on our website.
Thousands of people filled Delapree Park and lined the streets of the town centre for the Northampton Carnival on a bright sunny Saturday afternoon. The theme of this year's carnival was Myths and Legends of the World and participants dressed up as Robin Hood, King Arthur, Spartan warriors, Greek goddesses and angels. There was also a Loch Ness monster, several dragons, traditional Hindu costumes, Shakespearean dress and World Cup winning England footballers. Performers went on stage at Delapree park to sing and dance and dozens of stalls were scattered around the grounds.
Hundreds of people of all ages came to see the Northamptonshire NHS Festival of Wellbeing which took place at Franklins Gardens on Sunday 6 June. There were exhibitions and stalls as well as events including yoga, tai chi, latin, ballroom dancing, juggling and drum workshops which people could take part in and performers including local dance troops and belly dancers and a live jazz-soul band. Music was provided by Inspiration FM which also filmed the event.
The Moulton Carnival took place on Saturday afternoon 22 May, with a parade taking place though the streets of the village, stands and stalls scattered round about, beer and agricultural festival at the local primary school and culminating with a gathering of Morris Dancers from across England on the village green in front of an audience of several hundred people. Inspiration FM was there covering the event.
Saturday afternoon, 15 May, saw the third annual Picnic in the Park held at Victoria Park in Northampton's Castle Ward. Hundreds of people came along to sample the food, look at the stalls and take part in the activities which included juggling, Latin dance and Tai Chi workshops, a football shoot out, rock climbing, netball and a skateboard course. Music once again was provided by Inspiration FM.
On Saturday 17 April, Northampton Fish Market Gallery hosted a community engagement day hosted by the Northamptonshire Engagement Forum. Ispiration FM once again hosted and filmed the event.
On Saturday 10 October 2009 Northampton celebrated the Diwali festival of lights at the Market Square in an event organised by the Indian Hindu Welfare Organisation with Inspiration FM participating.
On Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September 2009 Northampton held a Heritage Open Day. Dozens of historical buildings were open for people to visit and there were guided tours, bus trips and Morris dancing. Thousands of people came to visit and Inspiration FM with the participation of Northampton Youth Forum filmed what happened.
On 4 October 2009 a football tournament was organised by the Northampton Muslim Youth Forum to promote awareness and tear down the negative image of Muslims in sport. Eighteen teams taking part and prizes were given out at a celebratory lunch held at the Northampton County Cricket Ground with Inspiration FM providing the music.
The Royal and Derngate's 'One Twenty Five' fund raising campaign took place on Saturday 29th August 2009. Members of the public and presenters from the town's radio stations joined the theatre staff in abseiling 85ft down the fly tower of 'The Derngate' auditorium, Inspiration FM's Mark Dean included.
Northampton Umbrella Fair 2009, Saturday 15 August 2009. The fair took place at the Northampton Racecourse with Inspiration FM's David Lewis helping to present acts on the Greenpeace stage.
Bangladeshi Community Festival 2009, Monday 20 July 2009. The festival took place at the Northampton Bangladeshi Association facilites behind the old postoffice. DJs and music were provided by Inspiration FM and the event was hosted by Inspiration's Mark Dean with Seema from the Ladies Talk show dancing.
Northampton Carnival, Saturday 13 June 2009. The carnival parade took place through Northampton town centre and live performances at Delapree Park were hosted by Mark Dean and David Lewis of Inspiration FM as well as the presentation of the Anne Frank Awards.
